Disney’s Beauty And The Beast

As a young child Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was my favorite movie. I can remember watching it several times over again driving everyone in my household out of the living room. The beautiful gowns, the ballroom events, and the romance with the prince captivated me. I was ecstatic when I received the news that I was selected to attend the first screening for the new Walt Disney Studios “Beauty and the Beast” live action movie. The icing on the cake was that I was going to be screening the movie at the official Disney Studios Lots. I was selected by the by Disney Team to attend a magical trip. The Disney Princess, Dream Big Princess field trip that would include this unbelievable trip to screen the movie on the Disney Studios official theater.

Being that Beauty and the Beast was my favorite childhood movie I was a bit sceptical on how the remake of this classic tale would honor the characters and the story line. The minute the lights dimmed and the movie began to play I instantly felt as if I was apart of the movie. I can still remember the feeling of sadness I felt as I knew the movie was towards the end, I wanted more. The live action film will not disappoint, as it re-tells the 1991 classic with a modernised version, while staying true to honor the original story line, music, and characters.

A true love story that we can all relate to. The love story between two individuals under the most uncommon circumstances would not fall in love. This classic love story between Belle and the Beast leaves you with an inspirational story that love can come in all kinds of shapes, colors, and sizes. Love is an internal feeling that is shared between two individuals regardless of their circumstances, there is no certain fit into the mold of love. In a world that is filled with so many stereotypes of what love should look like, this story allows us to see that there is so much more then what meets the eye. Beauty is within each and every one of us.

A strong and fearless young lady is the perfect role model for todays youth both male and female. The message that determination and having strong will can only lead you towards success. I love that Belle is a bookworm and that she will not allow any negative comment or feeling make her change who she truly is and what she truly loves about life. The sweet gestures to help others and to be a strong role model can leave inspirational in todays youth that paying it forward is something that we all should strive to do.

The scenery and set were designed to perfection for a tale as old as time. The live film action features 8,700 that were used to design the set. The magnificicant Beasts castle elegant ball room features 12,000 sq. feet of faux marble that were used to create a replica on a pattern found on the ceiling of the Benedictine Abbey in Braunau, Germany. The magical enchanted forest which surrounds the Beast’s castle features real trees, hedges, a frozen lake and 20,000 icicles. To create the beautiful yellow gown worn by Belle the custom department used 180 feet of feather light satin organza, 3,000 feet of thread, took over 12,000 hours to create,  and was accentuated with 2,160 Swarovski crystals.
